A well paced stroll through Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto, conducted by Epicurean Concierge Lisa Rogovin, will consist of carefully selected stops where business owners and artisans share their stories about their passion and commitment to local, organic food as well as some interesting commentary on the intriguing history and special connections between many of the successful establishments included in the tour.
Tastes include (but are not limited to):
House-smoked pastrami sandwich on ACME rye with house made celery soda at Saul’s Delicatessen, renowned for redefining Jewish American fare with California sensibility.
At The Cheese Board Pizzeria, an employee-owned Berkeley co-op; the vegetarian Pizza of the Day.
SOOP’s hot and chilled soups (depending on the season) such as Red Thai Lentil, classic Chicken Noodle, Raw Corn and Cashew, and Chicken and Hominy with Lime – all made fresh daily.
Ice cream from LUSH Gelato in deliciously unique flavors such as Straus Yogurt and Orange Zest, Point Reyes Blue Cheese & Cranberries, Honey and Cardamom, and McEvoy Ranch Olive Oil.
